I agree with Lonnie! My favorite part of Sweet Charity was the mod dancing scene. The music, dancing, costumes, set, and lighting were all perfect. :) Fabulous job.

Once again I was amazed, impressed, and thoroughly entertained last night at the Horizon Theater! I have said it before, and I will say it again, you inspire me when I see the potential that you have tapped and brought out in our students; it challenges me to be better! The dancing, singing, acting, and music were outstanding. What a tremendous job the music department has done with the singing and the orchestra; amazing! I can only imagine the amount of hard work that goes into a production like Sweet Charity, and I thank you for your efforts, it made for a very enjoyable evening. You are truly men and women of distinction!

Horizon’s new administration has made a focused and forceful push for IDs, and it appears to be succeeding after three years of failed attempts by the previous administration.

Students stand on both sides of the fence when it comes to these new policies. Upperclassmen tend to resent the IDs. “I don’t think there is a reason to be wearing them. They serve no purpose.” senior Sam Aragon said.

Freshmen seem to be less hostile towards the new policies. “I really don’t care. I actually kind of think it’s cool,” freshmen Damien Rowland said.

Staff feel that after years of attempts the IDs are working and fulfilling their purpose. “It’s helping us see who is here for the right reasons and who isn’t,” Dean Tonjes said. He has heard minimal complaints from students and parents. “We get a sigh or an eye roll but they put them on.”

Students are accepting their fates. “It’s alright that it’s not a fashion statement. Everyone has to wear them and it helps people recognize who goes here and who doesn’t,” senior Nikki Strawn said.

ADDED:

The battle that the staff thought they had won is quickly turning around.

A recent study shows that only 10% of Horizon students are wearing their IDs around their neck while walking in the halls. 90% of students either have them in their pocket or not at all.

Staff continue to try to enforce the use of IDs in the halls, but have little success.

"Kids are not wearing their IDs. They're just not. Have a look around."
